Conference play. It’s here, and it’s here to stay. Conference titles are ultimately on the line with each game that is played, and major upsets can come seemingly out of nowhere. Rivalries that are decades, some even centuries old, now appear in the schedule each week. As if we haven’t seen some amazing games already this season, the next few weeks undoubtedly will be an exceptional time in the college football season.
Best match-ups of the week: #6 LSU at #9 Georgia and #24 Wisconsin at #4 Ohio State.
LSU vs. Georgia is a huge clash of SEC West and SEC East powerhouses. It’s a rare game since they don’t often face one another due to being in different SEC divisions. The last time they played was when LSU pummeled the Dawgs in the 2011 SEC championship Game, 42-10.
The past few years Wisconsin vs. Ohio State has been one of the marquee match ups in the Big Ten schedule. The past 3 years the games have had plenty of drama and nail-biting excitement. Last year there was an awesome OT thriller in Wisconsin, in 2011 we saw Braxton Miller’s talent really shine in this 40-yard game winning touchdown pass, and in 2010 the #18 Badgers upset the #1 ranked Buckeyes at Camp Randall. If there’s any hope of history repeating itself, let’s hope it comes at the Horseshoe this weekend in Columbus.
